A set of classes specifically designed to introduce women to the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is an incredibly special martial art discipline for women.
Having the confidence in your ability as a woman to defend yourself no matter the situation is a very empowering feeling. This feeling allows you to live comfortably, with less fear and more freedom.
At Gracie Barra Shellharbour, we use Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to teach self defence and prevent an attacker from causing harm - even those who may have a significant size and strength advantage. Our instructors utilise the women's self defence classes as an opportunity to immerse students in situations which are similar to events which could occur in real life. By doing so, we teach women how to use techniques learned in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to leverage an attacker's weight against them and escape such a situation unharmed.
Not only are our women's classes incredibly great for self defence, they also offer amazing health and fitness benefits. Our versatile classes help improve your cardiovascular fitness and overall strength levels, and the best part is it all happens without you even realising!
Our martial arts classes for women include Rape Prevention, Jiu Jitsu Conditioning, and social ‘get togethers’ where students are encouraged to share tips, tricks, and techniques they have learned while undertaking Jiu Jitsu classes with other like-minded women. Our incredible community of women is unlike any other in the world.
